Bangladesh’s remittance reaches over 4 bln USD in July-August

DHAKA, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) — Bangladeshis living and working abroad remitted back more than 4 billion U.S. dollars in the July-August period, central bank data showed on Sunday.
According to the data, remittance, one of key sources of foreign exchange for the impoverished nation, surged 39 percent year-on-year to 2.22 billion dollars in August.
Remittance was 1.91 billion dollars in July.
Remittance mainly comes from Middle East countries, such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. ■
